GBPL Rules / Regulations / Legal Fees
IGBL is the serious league, GBPL is not. The goals of GBPL as I see it are:
- Try out new things to see how they work (cutback line, chuckers, loser's ball)
- Create even teams and balanced gameplay through the league format (draft league, salary league) since this doesn't exist in IGBL
- Give new or less experienced players a chance to play some non-pub GB.
- Be pretty much awesome and kinda stupid. Super hop is not banned, chuckers are still ok. Most specials are still at pub levels. Might even use some of Kuja's specials.
Gameplay Rules:
- Pregame - Teams will have 10 minutes to get their shit together before the match, if 10 minutes pass and one team isn't ready the ref can decide to call it a forfeit for that team. If both teams are not ready the game goes down as a tie.
- Each match will be at least 2 games of 20 minutes each. If it is tied at the end of 2 games a 3rd game of 10 minutes will be played as a tiebreaker.
- At the end of any game's regulation time, ref does *endgame before OvD, and takes stats. (if we have stats)
- Game Start - Since we got Volvbot and it works well, we'll stick with the faceoff rules from last season. Ref will put up a 1 minute timer when he's ready. At end of timer, ref uses volvbot to start match with a faceoff.
- If the score is tied at the end of a game, overtime is decided by OvD.
- OvD Rules:
- OvD will be played 4v4
- Offense starts outside enemy's goal entrance and have 1 minute to score.
- Each team gets 3 chances in a row then posession is swapped, so offense plays defense, and vice versa. If it is tied after this initial 3 rounds, it will proceed in a snake format. Each team gets one chance then possession changes.
- Captains are given a chance to sub in once at the beginning of a possession change. If OvD goes to a snake format, captains get one chance at the start to pick the players they want and there will be no more substitutions after this point. This is mainly an effort to reduce complications and time wasted during OvD.
- There is no playtime requirement during OvD
- Lag/Tanking - Refs don't do lagchecks, and we don't really care if your ping is high.
On the other hand, if a ref feels like a player's lag is disruptive to the game he can spec the player. Captains can ask the ref to do this but the ref is under no obligation to actually do it. - Super Jumps are legit.
- There will be no runclock or cutback line this season. The small map size will probably remove any stalling that we would have to worry about.Loser's Ball - During regulation play, when a team scores, the ball is given to the opposing team. This way we don't have to listen to Rare complain about ball spawns.
- Loser's Ball Details:
- Ball will be placed at a predetermined spot around that team's 20 line if available (depends on map).
- Scoring team is NOT allowed to pick up the ball until someone from the 'loser' team has touched it. (Does not require one successful pass)
- Scoring team is NOT allowed to drop mines on the ball
- Scoring team should retreat back to the center of the map to allow the 'losing' team to pick up the ball. They are not required to be behind any point on the map, they just should not camp the ball spawn.
- If the ref feels the scoring team is being stupid, he can penalize them by prizing players a negative item, or muting, or summoning them back to their own side.
- If the 'loser' team gets pd'd or repped into the ball, it still counts.
- Subs/NT Subs Captains can request a sub from the ref at any time during regulation.
- Playtime Requirement
- As a general rule, captains should play their backups for at least one match. The Requirement will be that you need to have at least 7 different people play during a match. Assuming you show at least 7. If less than 7 show, you play as many different people as you can.
- In order to balance things out, teams will only have to play as many backups as their opponent shows to the match. Ex. if squad A only shows 6 and Squad B shows 8, Squad b only needs to play 6 throughout the match.
- Forfeits - If a team shows less than 3 they forfeit. Period.
- Jerk Rule - If a team is doing something really lame and unsportsmanlike (such as, but not limited to: Holding ball in their corner of the map while they are one goal ahead just to waste time) the ref has the choice to warn the team and if the warning goes unheeded, possession can be given to the other team OR negative specials given to members of the team.
